I normally don’t like reductionist authors who publish very successful ‘business’ books, this opinion piece is wafer thin but has a point, the US needs to trim the fat if it wants to retain its position as the invincible economic superpower.
He’s wrong about NYTimes, I can still get that. Along with almost all news sites. The filter changes all the time though.
Also, I’m very wary of spending money on schools. We already spend 2 times other countries on schooling, the money is wasted because our process and culture of learning is wrong.
The typical plans for spending money also go into things like ‘buy each kid a laptop’, or ‘buy every kid a new math book’. Except math doesn’t change. A reboot would be ‘let’s write textbooks via public wiki where everyone gets to decide what should be in them and they are always available for free online’.
