Alex Bosworth's Weblog

developing search engine marketing software, living the expat life in beijing, other fun stuff.

previous projects: alchemy, swik, open source stuff, now adylitica.
My tool that integrates del.icio.us boomarks into Google searches - http://sandbox.sourcelabs.com/kibbutz/generate.php - has been messed up for a while by Google, they demoted ‘subscribed links’ to lower and lower positions on the page.
I wonder if they will kill this program off completely, there are a lot of pitfalls building on someone else’s platform, particularly when it is building something that plugs into their UI.
Also I suspect this tool isn’t working properly because of backend reasons: I no longer control the script because its on my previous company’s servers. I thought this was a pretty gosh darn cool idea, but it never seemed to catch on so I probably won’t be rewriting it to run on my servers anytime soon, especially with the slow death of del.icio.us.
I might however write a replacement that adds twitter info to your google search results, that’s something I have been thinking about.
